Ah, Valentine’s Day. Whether you adore it or tend to despise it, the holiday is right around the corner and this month we have you covered with five sweet things to do in Northern Colorado. Maybe you and your family wish to celebrate in the Sweetheart City — Loveland — or perhaps you’re just trying to hang out with your lady friends for a “Bae Day”. No matter your vibe this Valentine’s Day, we have you covered with the following events.

Loveland Valentine’s Sweetheart Festival: February 10-11, 2023

Celebrate all things that have to do with “LOVE” in the Sweetheart City. The Sweetheart Festival is a free event and an annual staple to Loveland. Bring the family or your sweetheart and join them in downtown Loveland where you can enjoy live music, art installations, local beers, interactive activities and more. In between the four indoor event venues, stroll through the Valentine Flea local art market or the tunnel of love. Enjoy the Foundry community plaza with local performances, food trucks, and kids’ activities. Go through the “Arts Alive” block with interactive art demos including live ice sculpting, bronze demos, or paint your own tile for the Loveland community mural. If you’re into fitness, Join the Sweetheart Classic four-mile race on Saturday, or participate in the Little Miss Valentine and Little Mr. Cupid contest. To end your sweet experience, hang out to watch the projection mapping light show on the historic Feed and Grain Building or enjoy a concert at the Rialto Theater. The festival is an extension of Loveland’s 77+ year history as the nation’s Sweetheart City and features something for everyone.

Loveland Valentine’s Day Group Wedding & Vow Renewal Ceremony 2023: Tuesday, February 14, 2023

In one of Loveland’s most unique event offerings, and located at The Budweiser Events Center, you and your loved one can join in on a romantic ceremony with music you vote on, a customized ceremony, keepsake photos, a lock that couples can use to “lock their love” on the famous LOVE or HEART sculptures in Loveland, gift bags, signature wedding cupcakes, and a chance to win a huge gift basket! As the website states: “what an original way to celebrate your love ON Valentine’s Day!” Tickets are just $140 per couple and include tickets to the hockey game! The ceremony starts at 4:00 p.m.

Windsor’s Bae Day: A Galentine’s event: Monday, February 13, 2023

Bae Day is back this year in Windsor, starting at 6:00 p.m.! Marketed as one of the best days of the year, this event is all about celebrating your BFFs & making more! They are bringing back everything

attendees loved about past years and even adding more this year! Some of the things included in a ticket are food, N/A drinks, Hair Tinsel & Braid Bar, B-12 Shots, and an optional speed meet. For food, charcuterie will of course be offered because how can one have a party without it? Cakable NoCo will be making decadent cookies and other treats including Chai, Vanilla, Chocolate & Pumpkin Spice Whoopie Pies! Swag bags filled with yummy goodies from local businesses will also be distributed to every guest. Fort Collins’ Valentine-Themed Candlelight Tours of the Avery House: Saturday, February 11, 2023

As we know, cards, chocolate, and flowers are synonymous with Valentine’s Day. This year, you can find out why at the Historic Avery House on Saturday, February 11 for special Valentine-themed tours illuminated by candlelight! Space is limited, so we recommend going ahead and getting your ticket ASAP. Tours are $10 per person and start at 6:30 p.m., 7:00 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and 8:00 p.m.

Boulder’s Be Mine! Clay Valentine Family Class: Sunday, February 5, 2023

Located at Studio Arts Boulder, Instructor Jana Smith will lead students in a unique Valentine’s Day-themed clay project! As an attendee, you can learn new clay skills and decorate together with your family. The studio will fire all work and let you know when it is ready for pickup, about two weeks later. The cost is $30 per person.

Fall Events in Northern Colorado

It’s October in our beautiful state and we are in the thick of fall. At the first hint of changing leaves and beanie-wearing temperatures, Coloradans begin their search for autumn adventures. Here are upcoming events you can visit this month in the Northern Colorado area. Plan a weekend around these festivals to celebrate in grand style, or just check out one for the day… and don’t forget to order that pumpkin latte for the car ride!

Poudre Pour in WindsorOctober 15
This October 15, join the Poudre Heritage Alliance at the Windsor History Museum from 1-5 p.m. to learn about the heritage of Cache la Poudre River with live music, beer tastings and food trucks. Kids are also welcome as there will be storytelling, a vintage fire truck ride and interactive exhibits. Beer-tasting tickets are $45, 18+ general admission is $10 and children under 17 are free with a guardian.

Pumpkins on Parade in Fort CollinsOctober 20-23
From 6-9 p.m. on October 20 through October 23, visit the Pumpkins on Parade in Fort Collins to see hundreds of carved pumpkins at the Gardens on Spring Creek. This event also encourages costumes! Tickets are free for ages four and below, $5 for kids ages 5-11 and $12 for any age above.

Northern Colorado Home Show in LovelandOctober 21-23
For a whole weekend, this October from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Northern Colorado Home Show will be hosted at the Ranch Events Complex in Loveland. This show features vendors who specialize in all things outdoor living, in-home decor and even DIY items. This event will be fun and educational for any homeowner looking to add something new to their space in the fall.

Harvest Night Fun Run and Fall Festival in LovelandOctober 29
Are you into running? Enter the two-mile run this October 29 from 2-5 p.m. at North Lake Park in Loveland. With a relaxed and easygoing atmosphere, participants can run (or walk) in the race followed by activities everyone can participate in like a festival featuring food trucks, live music and a costume contest!

Treatsylvania in Fort CollinsOctober 28-30
Each year, Treatsylvania hosts thousands of children and adults for their largest annual fundraiser at The Farm at Lee Martinez Park, Fort Collins. Join the festivities this October 28-30 for an adventure through a make-believe Halloween Town featuring over 40 different stores for children to gather their treats, go on hayrides, eat food and more! Tickets for entry to the event are just $7 for kids and free for adults from 5:30-7 p.m. on Friday, 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, from 1-3 p.m., and 5-7 p.m. on Sunday.

Hidden Gems in Northern Colorado

Think you’ve seen all there is to see in Northern Colorado? Think again! From sculptures to a shoe-making school, experience a few of the following hidden gems from our Northern Colorado bucket list.

Swetsville Zoo – 4801 E. Harmony Road, Fort Collins, CO 80528
Though not a real zoo with live animals, this roadside attraction is filled with over 180 unique and wacky metal sculptures, welded from car parts, scrap metal and farm machinery, by “zookeeper” Bill Swets. Located just off the Poudre River, this is definitely worth the detour. It is free to the public and open during daylight hours, with donations accepted. White Pine Fire Lookout – 3745 E. Prospect Road, Fort Collins, CO 80525
Located within the Running Deer Natural Area, this converted wildlife viewing pavilion was
once the top of a fire lookout tower on White Pine Mountain until 1967. As the name suggests, if you make the trip out here, there’s a good chance you could spot some mule deer or whitetail deer during your visit. Be sure to leave your bikes and dogs at home, as they are not permitted in the natural area.

Howling Cow Cafe – 5821 W. Colorado Road 54E, Bellvue, CO 80512
Howling Cow Cafe is located on the Morning Fresh Dairy Farm, home to the famous Noosa Yoghurt. Pop in for an espresso and a bagel sandwich and enjoy it on the patio. When you’re finished, there are paths and green spaces nearby that you can check out as well. The farm also has Halloween tours coming up in October for $10 if you’re looking for a fun, spooky activity for everyone!

Colorado Shoe School – 2829 N. Colorado Road 23, Bellvue, CO 80512
Make your own pair of Chuck Taylor’s at the Colorado Shoe School! This full-day activity takes
you from start to finish through the shoemaking process using vegetable-tanned leather and soles
made from recycled tennis balls. They also offer multiple-day workshops for other types of
footwear like boots! A 50 percent deposit is required to secure your workshop spot on the
Colorado Shoe School website.

Faces Bridge – 700 N. Wilson Ave. Loveland, CO 80537
A collection of more than 25 bronze faces, crafted by Randy Hand, reside under this Loveland
bridge just to the right of Wilson Avenue. Faces range in design, from peculiar and abstract to
those that may very well look like your next-door neighbor. There’s even a face of an alien!
Whether you want to explore more of what Northern Colorado has to offer for just an hour or
two on a Sunday, or plan an all-day adventure, these attractions and activities are
sure to delight.

Indoor Activities to Beat the Heat in NoCo

Summer is one of the best times to enjoy the outdoors, hang out with friends and family and travel. But those intense, high temperatures can be exhausting to spend a full day in. If you’re looking for a fun summer experience that doesn’t require being under the sweltering sun, check out these NoCo activities that are sure to keep you cool.

Visit a Brewery / Go on a Tour
There’s a vast, diverse range of breweries that lie in Fort Collins. Gilded Goat Brewery Company, Odell Brewing Company, Black Bottle Brewery, Maxline Brewing and Snowbank Brewing are just a few on the list. One of the top-rated breweries in NoCo with fantastic tours is New Belgium Brewing. This brewery has many tasty beers ranging from IPAs to wood-aged beers. Along with the drinks, New Belgium Brewing also features a food truck with indoor and outdoor seating. Although you have to be 21+ to drink, this is a very kid and dog-friendly place. If you’re an IPA and Pilsner enthusiast, this will be the best way to quench your thirst and beat the heat.

Investigate an Escape Room
Escape rooms have become a global sensation. Each person or group must solve the riddles and collect all the clues in order to open the door and clear the room. The Markey Escape Rooms, Fort Collins Escape Room, Time Emporium Escape Rooms: Fort Collins, Somewhere Secret Escape Room, ConTRAPtions Escape Room and The 47 Seals are the six locations to visit in NoCo if you want to try something new while staying in an air-conditioned space.

Walk Around a Museum
A great way to escape the summer heat in Northern Colorado is to visit a local museum. Fort Collins offers a wide variety of museums, each with its own rich history that lies within the walls. The Fort Collins Museum of Discovery, The Museum of Art and Center for Fine Art Photography are all worth a visit. Explore the new “FOOD FOR THOUGHT Micro Views of Sustenance: Threats and Prospects” exhibit at the Museum of Discovery and learn about the sources and impacts of the foods we consume in our daily lives. This exhibit is open until September 4, 2022. The other art museums mentioned previously contain multiple forms of art like visual art and contemporary pieces. If you want to walk amongst fine and contemporary art, The Museum of Art and the Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins are sure to satisfy.

Grab a Bite to Eat
Walking around in the heat all day can take a toll. Fort Collins offers cool restaurants that you do not want to miss out on. Totally 80’s Pizza and Museum doubles as a pizza parlor and museum; this restaurant holds the world’s largest collection of 1980s pop culture artifacts. Other restaurants worth a visit in the area are Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar, The Emporium: An American Brasserie, The Colorado Room, Blue Agave Grill, and RARE Italian.

Whether you are looking for something more adventurous or more relaxed to spend your day away from the blistering weather, Northern Colorado has a plethora of activities for everyone to enjoy this summer.

Enjoying the Holidays in Northern Colorado

Happy Holidays from our family to yours! It’s the most wonderful time of year, and there are so many events in northern Colorado. There’s an activity for everyone, from holiday markets to ice skating. Here are some fun events for you and your loved ones to enjoy! 

Outdoor Fun  

Little Zurich Outdoor Holiday Market 

This outdoor market has a large variety of vendors, activities, performances, drinks, etc. Located at Wolverine Farm Publick House in Fort Collins, it recurs weekly every Thursday-Sunday until December 24.  

Garden of Lights 

Walk through the Garden of Lights to see the thousands of LED bulbs illuminating the beauty of Fort Collins. It is located at the Gardens on Spring Creek and is open until December 26. Tickets for adults/children 12+ are $10, children 5-11 are $5 and children four and under are free.  

Ice Skating at The Promenade 

Ice skating is a classic winter tradition. You can hit the rink at The Promenade Shops at Centerra in Loveland, and it is open until February 14. 

Winter Wonderlights  

Take a walk through the Chapungu Sculpture Park at Centerra in Loveland with your loved ones to see the amazing light shows. The shows run from 5:00pm-9:00pm in 30-minute increments, until January 2, 2022. Local vendors are selling their goodies, too!  

Fort Collins Downtown Lights 

Filled with fun restaurants, bars and shops, downtown Fort Collins is so fun to explore. Now with amazing lights, walking the streets will be even more enjoyable. They will be up until February 14.

Santa Appearance 

If your little one needs a picture with Santa and still needs to give him their Christmas list, now is the time! He will be at Santa’s Workshop in Old Town Fort Collins until December 24, for free!
