Hometown:

Wilmington, DE

What Is One Special Thing About the Place You Grew Up?

The fall colors on the East Coast.

How Many Years Have You Been in Real Estate?

4 Years

Hobbies:

Playing upright bass, watching college football, playing with my kids

Describe Yourself In 5 Words:

Passionate, Creative, Free-Spirited, Problem Solver, and Always Improving

Favorite Colorado Past-time:

My favorite time of year in Colorado is Autumn, despite how short lived it is. I love to visit a different mountain town each early October and see the leaves change color and smell the crisp, fall air.

One Unusual Thing About You:

I’m a professional jazz musician.

In What Ways Are You Involved in Your Community?

I try to stay involved in my children’s schools- by volunteering for classroom aide or volunteering to teach the music class. This way I not only give back to the children in the community, but gain a little extra time with my children. In addition, I love to support the local arts, especially the symphony.

Who Inspires You?

My wife. She is a rock star who conquers so much each day and keeps me balanced. She gave us two beautiful children, and she has raised them, so well, to be empathetic and intelligent individuals

What Is Your Proudest Accomplishment and Why?

My family, because I get to relive my own childhood, teach them what I know, and they help me grow.

How Do You Define Success?

I define success in many ways, but all of them are tied to being happy and fulfilled. If you have a lot of financial success, or any other conventionally successful thing, but you are not happy, or fulfilled, then I do not feel that you are truly successful. It doesn’t do anyone any good to attain certain levels of success if they are miserable. Life is short, and it should be enjoyed as much as possible.

What Career Path Would You Have Chosen If You Didn’t Become a Real Estate Broker?

I would have become a jazz musician. I have been playing upright bass for the past 11 years, and it is definitely my first passion. It is difficult to make a living as a jazz musician though (I think I’ve seen a few memes about it). I love to incorporate my two passions though, by holding broker and client open houses with live jazz music, provided by me.

If You Could Master Any Skill That You Don’t Currently Have, What Would It Be and Why?

I wish I could learn a foreign language. I can speak conversational Spanish, but I wish I were fluent in another language.

What Is the Most Adventurous Thing You’ve Ever Done?

The most adventurous thing I’ve ever done is start a family. There are so many responsibilities, and the anxiety is never-ending, but the rewards and joys of parenthood make me very glad that I did it.

If You Could Have Dinner with Anyone, Who Would It Be and Why?

Frank Lloyd Wright, because he was an innovator. He understood the balance between art and nature.

What Is Your Favorite Family Tradition?

My mom handmade an advent calendar for me when I was a teenager. It has little felted Christmas items for each day of December. My favorite family tradition is watching my wife and kids excitedly take the new item out of the pouch each day and place it on the tree on top. Since my mother passed away a few years ago, it’s nice to have a tradition that includes her in our lives.

What’s the Best Concert You’ve Ever Been To? What Made It So Special?

How could a musician pick just one?

If You Could Live in A Book, TV Show, Or Movie What Would It Be and Why?

I would want to live in Wonderland. I went to a charter school in high school that emphasized math, and the concept of a world of nonsense, created by a mathematician, appeals to me. I am drawn to fantasies, and there isn’t one more enticing to me than one based on pure creativity and the absence of logic.

What Is One Special Thing About the Place You Grew Up?

Musician Bobby McFerrin (Don’t Worry, Be Happy) lived in my childhood home with his family after we moved!

What Was Your First Job?

My first job was babysitting, and I still love spending time with other people’s kids.

Hobbies:

I spend my free time painting, exploring the Art Museum, Botanic Gardens or taking in a performance at the Denver Performing Arts Complex. I love the arts & culture programs here in Denver, there is ALWAYS something to create or go do.

Describe Yourself In 5 Words:

Friendly, Funny, Organized, Optimistic, and Artistic.

Favorite Colorado Past-time:

If I have a free weekend, I’ll drive to the mountains to camp solo with my dog, Georgia O’Keeffe.

Favorite Place to Grab a Drink:

Margs Uptown is my neighborhood hang. Love their Lava Lamps!

One Unusual Thing About You:

My initials are B.A.D. (Beth Anne Davis) because my parents have a funny sense of humor and an affinity for acronyms.

In What Ways Are You Involved in Your Community?

I love taking advantage of opportunities to get involved with the Denver Community. I often join up with friends who volunteer, and love trying out different ways of giving back. I have volunteered with Denver Rescue Mission, Metro Caring, I have been a mentor for the Denver Metro Partners Program and I am a member of the Denver Art Museum and Botanic Gardens.

Who Inspires You?

I am constantly inspired by my friends, family, and colleagues. Everyone is facing their own struggle!

What Is Your Proudest Accomplishment and Why?

I’m proud of myself for moving from Minneapolis to Denver almost 8 years ago, knowing nearly no one when I moved, and successfully making a life for myself here!

How Do You Define Success?

I define success as working hard, being nice to people, and finding joy in each day. Everything we do or want is because we think it will make us happier, if we can find joy first – then everything else falls into place!

What Career Path Would You Have Chosen If You Didn’t Become a Realtor?

If I wasn’t a REALTOR I would probably still be in sales of some sort. I love working towards a goal, developing relationships, and being a problem solver.

If You Could Master Any Skill That You Don’t Currently Have, What Would It Be and Why?

I wish I was one of those people who could be dropped in the middle of the woods and still know what direction they’re facing at any given moment. I don’t have that natural navigator skill.

What Is the Most Adventurous Thing You’ve Ever Done?

I have been skydiving three times! Jumping out of an airplane is the most adventurous and exciting experience of my life, hands down.

If You Could Have Dinner with Anyone, Who Would It Be and Why

I would love to have dinner with both of my Grandmas. I think of them often and have fond memories of home cooking with one, and champagne & burger dinner dates with the other.

What Is Your Favorite Family Tradition?

My family has never been very traditional or religious, but every year when the holidays would come around, we would have a VERY traditional Jewish Christmas… CHINESE FOOD! It doesn’t matter if I’m spending it with family or friends, Peking Duck is served on Christmas Eve.

What’s the Best Concert You’ve Ever Been To? What Made It So Special?

Dolly Parton at Red Rocks was a once in a lifetime experience. Red Rocks is the most amazing venue and Dolly is so funny, incredibly talented and joyful – and to make it even more special, I watched two friends get engaged that night!

If You Could Live in A Book, TV Show, Or Movie What Would It Be and Why?

Harry Potter would be pretty fun, because… magic!

What Is One Special Thing About the Place You Grew Up?

They have amazing Mexican food!

What Was Your First Job?

I worked at a baseball field concession stand.

Hobbies:

Hanging out with my husband and 2 kids, hiking, yoga, and anything outside.

Describe Yourself In 5 Words:

Honest, hard working, dedicated, personable, and family focused.

Favorite Colorado Past-time:

I love Hiking!

Favorite Place to Grab a Drink:

Human Bean Nutty Blizzard. I’m there enough that one of the baristas calls my version of this drink “The Sarah”. I must drink a lot of coffee!

One Unusual Thing About You:

I am sure I have many unusual things about me😊 but I cant pinpoint a fun one.

In What Ways Are You Involved in Your Community?

I am very involved with our local schools. I volunteer at them regularly, as well as sponsor and help organize school fundraising events.  I am also involved with WomensGive Larimer County, which is a program to help single mothers get a college education to help provide for their children.

Who Inspires You?

A lot of people inspire me, so it’s hard to pick just one. Anyone who keeps growing and innovating themselves is a great inspiration for me.

My husband is a huge inspiration and inspires me every day. He is hardworking but also family focused, and thoughtful.  He always asks the right questions to people about their lives and seeing what is going on that is important to them, even if he is super busy.  He always the kids and I first which allows me to go through busy times and not worry.

What Is Your Proudest Accomplishment and Why?

Having my children. I have always been very active, and career driven. So when I had my children, I loved seeing a different side of me open up and truly enjoy loving them in a way I hadn’t experienced before.

How Do You Define Success?

A work/life balance. When I feel the most successful is when I can have great family time while also helping my clients find their perfect home or sell their home to move on to their next adventure. The balance keeps me feeling happy and successful

What Career Path Would You Have Chosen If You Didn’t Become a Real Estate Broker?

I love real estate but also do have a past career/life that I still enjoy. I own a local salon and spa in Fort Collins (Orchidee Salon & Spa) and still enjoy seeing it thrive. I have amazing managers that run it for me so I can fully focus on my real estate career, but if I wasn’t in real estate, I would still have that as my focus and passion.

If You Could Master Any Skill That You Don’t Currently Have, What Would It Be and Why?

I just decided to learn tennis.  I have never played before and love the idea of taking on something fun yet hard to master. It’s been a long time since I have learned a new activity/sport and I am looking forward to having some fun.

What Is the Most Adventurous Thing You’ve Ever Done?

Starting my own business. From the conception to the big financial risk of taking the leap has been a huge adventure. Any business owner knows it’s a big leap and a great reward.

If You Could Have Dinner with Anyone, Who Would It Be and Why?

Anna Wintour. She quickly navigated to the top of the fashion and editing world and eventually changed the look and focus of Vogue. I would love to pick her brain about how she achieved her success and what life looks like outside of her career.

What Is Your Favorite Family Tradition?

I love Christmas. I love everything about it but especially family traditions from my past, as well as creating new ones with my family. We try to have a true “Colorado” Christmas by going up to a cabin or home in the mountains (usually Devils Thumb Ranch) so you get the snow and the family time without all the interruptions. Sometimes we do this before or after Christmas so we make sure to also see our extended family on the actual day, but this is our special time just me, my husband, and our kids. Christmas songs, cooking together as a family, decorating our tree (I am a huge fan of decorating the tree together and however the kiddos want it, so it may not be pretty but its fun!), and we have even done sleigh rides. Truly the full holiday experience!

What’s the Best Concert You’ve Ever Been To? What Made It So Special?

I love any outdoor concert, especially Red Rocks. I think you get such a great feeling when you are at Red Rocks hearing music and enjoying the beauty of Colorado at the same time.

If You Could Live in A Book, TV Show, Or Movie What Would It Be and Why?

Outlander is my favorite book series so I would have to choose that. They have now made a TV series out of it and I would be fine with that as well, but of course the book is always better! The story is based on a strong woman who pushes and breaks boundaries and stereotypes when she goes back in time. How could you not love going back to another time to experience life a different, more simple way. And I mean who doesn’t love Scotland!

Abraham Lincoln, so I could try to learn and understand selfless love of my country and fellow man.

What’s the Best Concert You’ve Ever Been To? What Made It So Special?

Fleetwood Mac – their music is timeless and their passion to perform at age 70+ is inspirational.

If You Could Live in A Book, TV Show, Or Movie What Would It Be?

As painful as it might be, I would like to live in Atlas Shrugged as Hank Rearden.

Hometown:

I was born and spent through 8th grade in Lutherville, Maryland. My first recollection of the telephone was we had a “party-line”. We had to drive past Maryvale School for Girls to get to mine, St. Paul’s School for Boys. Those were the days, school uniforms!

What Is One Special Thing About the Place You Grew Up?

Nothing but fields, woods, streams, and hideouts. Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn would have been jealous. In my eyes it was perfect.

What Was You First Job?

Raking leaves and mowing yards. But I would say having my own paper route was my first real job. I still wake up early. Scarred for life!

Hobbies:

Family, skiing, hiking, walking, cooking, and my Land Rover. “I’d rather push my Land Rover than ride in your Jeep.”

Describe Yourself In 5 Words:

Loyal, Pragmatic, Tenacious, Happy and an Open-Book

Favorite Colorado Past-time:

I love road trips; Colorado offers some of the best. Colorado’s history is important to me.

Favorite Place to Grab a Drink:

Ned Kelly’s Irish Pub in Littleton, Colorado.

One Unusual Thing About You:

I’m a 2%-er. 1%-er if you count the fact that I have blue eyes too. Being a redhead has set me apart in almost every room I enter.  Redheads never die, they just fade away…

In What Ways Are You Involved in Your Community?

I serve on the City of Centennial’s Election Commission. I’ve been President of my HOA for the last 10 years. I can highly recommend Centennial 101, South Metro’s Fire and Rescue Citizen’s Academy and the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Citizens Academy. Knowing how your government and related services operate explains where your taxes go.

I also spend a fair amount of time with the Daniels School of Business DU.  Long story…

Who Inspires You?

My family and friends. I’m not much for putting celebrity or politico on pedestals.

What Is Your Proudest Accomplishment and Why?

Watching my wife write that last tuition check for the last of our children knowing we had accomplished our #1 goal. Provide a world class education for our 3 children. We sent our Children to Duke, Notre Dame, and DU. I think we succeeded!

How Do You Define Success?

Next to the “meaning of life” success is tough to define. In my own mind, I’ve achieved it. I live where I want to live, my children and now grandchildren are nearby. I have a lovely wife of 36 years. I have some great friends. I’ve traveled to a bunch of countries. I’ve been Heli-Skiing. I’ve driven over Black Bear Pass twice. I’ve climbed 15 or more 14ers. I’ve been to all but 3 states.  And, I have a sense of contentment when the market drops 500 points in a day, I don’t flinch. It’s a good life!

What Career Path Would You Have Chosen If You Didn’t Become a Real Estate Broker?

I have two material loves. I like houses and I like cars. I wasn’t going to be a car salesman. I probably would have been involved in construction. I’m happy with my choices.

If You Could Master Any Skill That You Don’t Currently Have, What Would It Be and Why?

I wish I was as brave as I was when I was younger and could still ski as hard as I did then. It would be great to ride a bicycle as fast as Dee.

What Is the Most Adventurous Thing You’ve Ever Done?

There have been so many. At the time, this was crazy! Two of my college buddies and I drove to California on our Spring Break. On the way back, we stopped off at the Havasu Indian Reservation and hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and camped two nights at Havasu Falls. Google it. At that time and at that age, it was the epitome of paradise! Now I think it is some type of Eco-Tour.

If You Could Have Dinner with Anyone, Who Would It Be and Why?

Just one? Really? OK, let’s see. My father and brother, both passed now, would be top of my list. They meant so much to me. And, I know my mother would have loved to meet her great grandchildren, so I’d have to include her too!

What Is Your Favorite Family Tradition?

We’ll be living it next week. Everyone in the Fam for a few days around the holidays talking about it all. Games, food, and skiing. Nestled in a house in Vail. Like I said above, they inspire me.  My children made me a better person. Life is for the living!

What’s the Best Concert You’ve Ever Been To? What Made It So Special?

I would have to say Jethro Tull at Red Rocks 1971. I’m still not sure what happened, but helicopters, police, tear gas. Read about it – Denver History! There was no Rock-n-Roll for 5 years after this incident at Red Rocks, at the time, this was crazy punishment.

With all that said, I attended memorable concerts such as The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane/Starship, Bob Dylan and the Band, Steven Stills, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Bruce Springsteen, Joe Walsh, Pointer Sisters, Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, Garth Brooks and most recently, for some reason, I had never seen Tom Petty. The kids gave me the tickets for my birthday. Dee and I wound up on the 4th row and two months later, Tom Petty was dead. That truly was a “Heartbreaker”.

If You Could Live in A Book, TV Show, Or Movie What Would It Be and Why?

This is the easiest question of all. I would be John Galt in Atlas Shrugged. I love being the guy behind the scenes making it all look so easy! Who is John Galt?

It’s just outside of the Black Hills, home of Mt. Rushmore, I didn’t appreciate the beauty of the location until after I moved away.

I was a car hop at Daisy Dell when I turned 14.  No, I didn’t have to wear roller skates, but balancing those trays proved hard enough for me.

Hobbies:

Martial arts, cycling, fitness education, and reading

Describe Yourself In 5 Words:

Energetic, detailed, fun-loving, sarcastic, passionate

Favorite Colorado Past-time:

I love supporting local animal charities, supplying time and funds to help pets find forever homes.

Who Inspires You?

I am universally inspired by anyone with a positive and energetic outlook, great energy draws great possibilities.

What Is Your Proudest Accomplishment and Why?

I biked to the top of Mt. Evans on my 40th birthday. At the time, I thought turning 40 was going to be dramatic…not so much.

How Do You Define Success?

My true definition of success comes from the friendships, repeat business and referrals I receive from the great people I’ve been fortunate enough to work with. It’s the cornerstone of my business and I am very grateful.

What Career Path Would You Have Chosen If You Didn’t Become a Real Estate Broker?

Likely something in the fitness industry/martial arts.  I had a great teacher, and I love to coach.

If You Could Master Any Skill That You Don’t Currently Have, What Would It Be and Why?

I would LOVE to be a great writer. I think great writing has the ability to inspire, provoke and motivate.

What Is the Most Adventurous Thing You’ve Ever Done?

I am open-water scuba certified and a big fan of sky diving, but I still think that moving away from all my friends and family to come to Denver over 30 years ago took a tremendous amount of bravery at that time.

If You Could Have Dinner with Anyone, Who Would It Be and Why?

I would have dinner with my maternal grandparents.  I never got to meet them, I’ve only heard some great stories.  They raised 8 wonderful children and I would love for them to see their huge and wonderful family now. Cousins are the best!

What Is Your Favorite Family Tradition?

Christmas with my family in South Dakota.  We get together every year without fail, and both my mom and my sister are GREAT cooks.  (a skill I haven’t mastered)

What’s the Best Concert You’ve Ever Been To? What Made It So Special?

Earth, Wind and Fire at Red Rocks…row 3, baby!  I love ANY concert at Red Rocks, but this one was so memorable because EVERYONE was dancing just as hard as I was.

If You Could Live in A Book, TV Show, Or Movie What Would It Be and Why?

I would live on Pandora, from the Avatar movie.  Love the beauty, the calm, and the intense connection to the surroundings.

Hometown:

Born in Indiana, however Colorado is my hometown!

What Is One Special Thing About the Place You Grew Up?

I moved back and forth from Colorado to Indiana when I was younger. In Indiana, I loved playing with lightning bugs. It was simple and fun. Regardless if I was in Colorado or Indiana, we were always outside playing in the dirt!

What Was You First Job?

Stacking firewood for my dad at his home in Conifer. I am pretty sure I worked all day for $1. However, I never complained and loved every bit of the earning power I had! My first W-2 position was when I was 14 and I worked the coffee counter at Mister Donut. Been working and in service ever since!

Hobbies:

Hiking, skiing, eating and drinking with friends and family, snuggling with big dogs, weekend getaways to the mountains, volunteering, collecting vintage champagne.

Describe Yourself In 5 Words:

Excitable, Happy, Witty, Passionate, Kind.

Favorite Colorado Past-time:

Attending Colorado Avalanche games.

Favorite Place to Grab a Drink:

Anywhere! Not a copout, but I love anything from dive bars, to swanky rooftops and casual patios – but I’m not a fan of any national chain. It’s about the company and conversation for me. I am a sucker for champagne and always appreciate a well-made French 75.

One Unusual Thing About You:

Monday is my favorite day of the week. I am sure the list is more exhaustive than this, but I love Mondays! I like the renewal and energy every new week brings. I would pick a Monday over a Friday any day of the week!

In What Ways Are You Involved in Your Community?

I am a serial volunteer. I am currently on the finance committee of both Community Shares of Colorado and Invest in Kids. I can also be seen getting my hands dirty and improving our very own Denver neighborhoods while volunteering for Extreme Community Makeover. Last, but not least, I spend time going door-to-door with the local chapter of the American Red Cross and install fire alarms in homes that may not have them, or they need repair. In addition, I am always doing my best to attend events, participate in silent auctions, and act as an ambassador to spread the word of many of our wonderful 501c3 organizations.

Who Inspires You?

So sappy – sorry not sorry. But, it is my husband. He is incredibly smart, witty, can manage a team better than I’ve ever seen anyone do, never backs away from a challenge, is always trying to self-improve, always says yes to an adventure, and has been graciously willing to put up with me for the last 18 years.

What Is Your Proudest Accomplishment and Why?

Choosing to change my career after being in the same profession for 20 years. It was bold, daring, and I chose my own destiny. I am thrilled to be in real estate!

How Do You Define Success?

I don’t want to sound too cliché. Success to me mirrors happiness. If I am happy, I am successful. We didn’t have a lot of money growing up, I moved a lot, and did not have a large circle of friends. However, my dad always told me that we have a lot of love and that is more than what a lot of people may have. I have always held onto that message and have been a fairly upbeat and positive person, which has immensely impacted my success and therefore defined it for me. Although, if you ask my inner circle, they say I have 2% days. I can be a bit over-the-top, boisterous, and peppy 98% of the time, but they say I have those 2% days that they want to steer clear from me!

What Career Path Would You Have Chosen If You Didn’t Become a Real Estate Broker?

A national news personality based out of New York City. I love wearing suits, being in the know, always being on, working long hours, attending all the big events in town, reporting, discovering, sharing…the list goes on!

If You Could Master Any Skill That You Don’t Currently Have, What Would It Be and Why?

I aspire to do anything athletic. I’ve never been athletic and I think it would be really neat to pole vault, do fencing, or parkour. Anything really extreme would be fun if I am dreaming big! However, I am not currently pursuing any of the above.

What Is the Most Adventurous Thing You’ve Ever Done?

The list is getting longer, as I love adventures! I slept in a tree house in the Amazon for 4 days with my husband. I was fairly certain after the first night I was going to have to charter a plane to get out of there. I stuck it out and it ended up being one of the most incredible things I’ve ever done.

If You Could Have Dinner with Anyone, Who Would It Be and Why?

Coco Chanel. She could rock a brand, build a legacy, overcome adversity and do it all in a little black dress with class. And, it’s just dinner!

What Is Your Favorite Family Tradition?

I have a really crazy, convoluted, and unconventional family. We have a lot of love and laughs, however we are so disjointed, our only tradition is that we don’t have one single tradition! I wouldn’t have it any other way. However, I look forward to the little traditions my husband and I create with our dogs!

What Is One Special Thing About the Place You Grew Up?

I know it sounds funny living in a state that has so much sun, but one of the many things I ACTUALLY miss about the Midwest is the thunderstorms. There is nothing like the sound and smell of a torrential downpour in the summer. I used to love to lay and watch the rain and lightning and hear the loud bursts of thunder that often times, shook the house. There was something very calming about it.

Number of Years in Real Estate:

4 years

Hobbies:

Hiking, recently trying on mountain biking, camping, traveling the world, trying new restaurants/food, skiing, listening to a good podcast, antiquing, walking around new places I haven’t yet discovered, riding my bike around town. More recently, river rafting!

Describe Yourself In 5 Words:

Outgoing, Driven, Sarcastic, Happy, Authentic

Favorite Colorado Past Time:

Honestly, probably hiking. I like it because you can do it alone, and sometimes I just need that.

Favorite Place to Grab a Drink:

This is hard because it is so weather dependent for me. If I can be on a patio, I will be. Among a few, Postino, Family Jones, El Five, Los Chingones.

One Unusual Thing About You:

I like to dip my popcorn in Sriracha.

What Is One Item on Your Bucket List:

I’d really like to learn to speak Spanish and sail around the world.

What Is Your Proudest Accomplishment and Why?

Honestly, I am so happy I gave myself the opportunity to travel to so many different countries in my twenties. Understanding and observing other cultures is so important to me, and so vital to our understanding of the world. I’m grateful for all that I have, but more grateful for what I have been lucky enough to experience in my lifetime.

How Do You Define Success?

For myself, I define success by my ability to enjoy my life. And candidly, sometimes lately I forget to stop and do that. My dad says, “You’re always under construction” and I believe that. Work is work, but what is it if you can’t stop and enjoy your life?

What Career Path Would You Have Chosen If You Didn’t Become a Real Estate Broker?

That is hard to say. Honestly, nothing has felt more right. I’ve had several different jobs and finally decided on this one.  I think I may try to be an Interior Designer if I had chosen something else.

If You Could Master Any Skill That You Don’t Currently Have, What Would It Be and Why?

I wish I felt comfortable sailing alone and understood how that all worked. I’ve always wanted to sail around the world.

What Is the Most Adventurous Thing You’ve Ever Done?

This is a hard one. I’ve been sky diving and bungee jumping and I’m currently getting scuba certified. That said, I think I felt one of my bigger accomplishments was going to Thailand and Vietnam alone last year. Solo travel is so invigorating!

If You Could Have Dinner with Anyone, Who Would It Be and Why?

Honestly, it may be Tanya Aebi. She sailed around the world alone when she was 18 – that was in the mid-80s. I read about her when I was younger and it always intrigued me.

What Is Your Favorite Holiday Tradition?

I come from a big family. We have a lot of traditions, but the older I get, the more those are starting to shift, especially being away from home. Everyone is getting married and having kids. We always have a dinner with each side of the family, as I am fortunate that most of them live back in Indiana, so it’s easy to get together.

That all said, I think that one of our best family traditions is the Thanksgiving Reunion on my dad’s side. I don’t know that it is always my favorite, but the history of it is so neat. The reunion has been going on since 1865, the year the Civil War ended. There are three families under my (however many greats-) grandfather, William Jackson, from 1865, so we call it the Jackson – Mock – Clark Reunion. Our families live across the country and every year I’d say the turnout is between 60-80 people that have carried this tradition on since then! We meet in different cities across the country where we all are from and usually learn some piece of history about the family.

Some of my relatives have spent a bunch of time creating the family tree, which takes up a very large wall and is ever-changing with babies and marriages continually being added. I have 16 cousins on my Dad’s side and many of them have kids. Getting everyone together can be difficult sometimes, but when we are all there it is really great! It’s getting to a point where my generation has to start carrying on the tradition, and I am expecting to host it here in Denver in the next couple of years, which will be exciting.

The reunion usually lasts for 3 days. The first night the host family has a big chili cook-off and then the following day we meet at some hotel or restaurant and have a large catered meal. The last day is usually spent exploring the history of our family and ancestors in the city we are in. I always really appreciate it.

What’s the Best Concert You’ve Ever Been To?

May have been Portugal the Man at the Bluebird circa 2011.

What Made It So Special?

The lights and setting, but also likely my interest in them at the time!

If You Could Have Any Superpower What Would It Be and Why?

I’ve always wanted to be able to fly. Planes make me stuffy, and what a view you’d have!
