Hometown:

Born in Indiana, however Colorado is my hometown!

What Is One Special Thing About the Place You Grew Up?

I moved back and forth from Colorado to Indiana when I was younger. In Indiana, I loved playing with lightning bugs. It was simple and fun. Regardless if I was in Colorado or Indiana, we were always outside playing in the dirt!

What Was You First Job?

Stacking firewood for my dad at his home in Conifer. I am pretty sure I worked all day for $1. However, I never complained and loved every bit of the earning power I had! My first W-2 position was when I was 14 and I worked the coffee counter at Mister Donut. Been working and in service ever since!

Hobbies:

Hiking, skiing, eating and drinking with friends and family, snuggling with big dogs, weekend getaways to the mountains, volunteering, collecting vintage champagne.

Describe Yourself In 5 Words:

Excitable, Happy, Witty, Passionate, Kind.

Favorite Colorado Past-time:

Attending Colorado Avalanche games.

Favorite Place to Grab a Drink:

Anywhere! Not a copout, but I love anything from dive bars, to swanky rooftops and casual patios – but I’m not a fan of any national chain. It’s about the company and conversation for me. I am a sucker for champagne and always appreciate a well-made French 75.

One Unusual Thing About You:

Monday is my favorite day of the week. I am sure the list is more exhaustive than this, but I love Mondays! I like the renewal and energy every new week brings. I would pick a Monday over a Friday any day of the week!

In What Ways Are You Involved in Your Community?

I am a serial volunteer. I am currently on the finance committee of both Community Shares of Colorado and Invest in Kids. I can also be seen getting my hands dirty and improving our very own Denver neighborhoods while volunteering for Extreme Community Makeover. Last, but not least, I spend time going door-to-door with the local chapter of the American Red Cross and install fire alarms in homes that may not have them, or they need repair. In addition, I am always doing my best to attend events, participate in silent auctions, and act as an ambassador to spread the word of many of our wonderful 501c3 organizations.

Who Inspires You?

So sappy – sorry not sorry. But, it is my husband. He is incredibly smart, witty, can manage a team better than I’ve ever seen anyone do, never backs away from a challenge, is always trying to self-improve, always says yes to an adventure, and has been graciously willing to put up with me for the last 18 years.

What Is Your Proudest Accomplishment and Why?

Choosing to change my career after being in the same profession for 20 years. It was bold, daring, and I chose my own destiny. I am thrilled to be in real estate!

How Do You Define Success?

I don’t want to sound too cliché. Success to me mirrors happiness. If I am happy, I am successful. We didn’t have a lot of money growing up, I moved a lot, and did not have a large circle of friends. However, my dad always told me that we have a lot of love and that is more than what a lot of people may have. I have always held onto that message and have been a fairly upbeat and positive person, which has immensely impacted my success and therefore defined it for me. Although, if you ask my inner circle, they say I have 2% days. I can be a bit over-the-top, boisterous, and peppy 98% of the time, but they say I have those 2% days that they want to steer clear from me!

What Career Path Would You Have Chosen If You Didn’t Become a Real Estate Broker?

A national news personality based out of New York City. I love wearing suits, being in the know, always being on, working long hours, attending all the big events in town, reporting, discovering, sharing…the list goes on!

If You Could Master Any Skill That You Don’t Currently Have, What Would It Be and Why?

I aspire to do anything athletic. I’ve never been athletic and I think it would be really neat to pole vault, do fencing, or parkour. Anything really extreme would be fun if I am dreaming big! However, I am not currently pursuing any of the above.

What Is the Most Adventurous Thing You’ve Ever Done?

The list is getting longer, as I love adventures! I slept in a tree house in the Amazon for 4 days with my husband. I was fairly certain after the first night I was going to have to charter a plane to get out of there. I stuck it out and it ended up being one of the most incredible things I’ve ever done.

If You Could Have Dinner with Anyone, Who Would It Be and Why?

Coco Chanel. She could rock a brand, build a legacy, overcome adversity and do it all in a little black dress with class. And, it’s just dinner!

What Is Your Favorite Family Tradition?

I have a really crazy, convoluted, and unconventional family. We have a lot of love and laughs, however we are so disjointed, our only tradition is that we don’t have one single tradition! I wouldn’t have it any other way. However, I look forward to the little traditions my husband and I create with our dogs!

What Is One Special Thing About the Place You Grew Up?

We used to call it the birthplace of the u-turn. You came into town, took one look around and made a u-turn back to where you came from. Apparently we were wrong. Shortly thereafter, Douglas County became the fastest growing county in the US for many years. Lots of people seemed to like it, a lot.

Number of Years in Real Estate:

15 Years

Hobbies:

Motocross, mountain biking, snowboarding and skiing

Describe Yourself In 5 Words:

An energetic, authentic, fun-loving guy.

Favorite Colorado Past-time:

4×4’ing with my family in the Aspen area in our old ’84 Jeep CJ-7

Favorite Place to Grab a Drink:

One Unusual Thing About You:

I achieved regional level professional status in Motocross at age 16. I started racing at age 9 on a 60cc Yamaha, we were called peewees. I then moved to an 80cc Kawasaki at age 13. We were called minis. Then I moved to a 125cc Kawasaki at 15. That was called the lites class. In 1990, I punched out as an armature and joined the big boys in the 125cc Pro Class. That year I finished 8th in the state in the Sports Riders Association of Colorado (SRAC) organization.

What Is One Item on Your Bucket List?

To learn Spanish and drive a proper vehicle on the Autobahn (see below).

What Is Your Proudest Accomplishment and Why?

My daughter Morgan. Being a parent is the most difficult and rewarding thing I have ever experienced. There is no manual on how to raise a kid. All you have is your own experiences and the collaboration with your spouse, if you’re lucky like I am.  You direct and guide them as best you can and pray you’re not screwing them up. I’m a proud Dad. I’m giving that girl as much love and support as possible and so far the results are good…to be continued!

What Does Success Mean to You?

Success to me is having enough time to enjoy my life. So many people define success in monetary means, for me it’s time equity.

What Career Path Would You Have Chosen If You Didn’t Become a Real Estate Broker?

My parents wanted me to be a professional motorcycle racer.  Those were very long odds for me. I started out in the tech industry and hated my life. Real estate was such a better career choice. I’m my own boss, have as much free time as I want and get paid to help people. It’s a pretty good gig. If I had to choose something else, I like to think I’d be a good architect.

If You Could Have Dinner with Anyone, Who Would It Be and Why?

It would have to be my grandparents on my Dad’s side. My grandmother died before I was born and my grandfather died when I was 3. The only memory I have of them is some old, faded, staged photography. I would love to sit with them, talk to them, and observe how they act. I’m a lot like my father and I would love to know how much of my personality came from his parents.

What Is Your Favorite Holiday Tradition?

Anyone that knows me knows my favorite holiday tradition is dressing up for Halloween. The family and I are certifiably crazy about Halloween. Costumes are planned years in advance and every Halloween typically means multiple costumes. My favorite costumes include Mad Maxx, Frankenstein, Steampunk, and Guitar Hero!

What’s the Best Concert You’ve Ever Been To? What Made It So Special?

I would say Daft Punk at Red Rocks. We had VIP seats directly in the middle, about 25 rows up. We had the perfect vantage point and optimal sound to witness the artistry that is Daft Punk. You know those shows you attend and in the moment, catch yourself thinking, “this is the greatest thing I’ve ever witnessed”? It was like that.

If You Could Live in A Book, TV Show, Or Movie What Would It Be and Why?

I think I would live in The Matrix. I may already live in there now and don’t know it, who knows? If I were in the Matrix I would like to know it and be able to exit, reprogram my life, and then re-enter. I think that would be an incredible adventure.

Presumably I would live hundreds of years, as the only thing really working is my mind. I could experience ultimate knowledge in any area, just download what I need or want. I could try any profession, any activity, and be anything I want. Then, once sick of that path, I could exit and start over. It takes a lifetime to acquire the knowledge to be an expert in most things. I think it would be fascinating to download that knowledge instantaneously.

What Is the Most Adventurous Thing You’ve Ever Done?

I purchased a Eurail Pass out of undergraduate school and traveled most of Europe for two months. I started in London, then Paris, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart, Interlaken, Zurich, Zermatt, and finally Rome. We were broke college kids so we traveled on the cheap. Mostly hostels until my dad came over and met us in Munich. He upgraded us to a proper hotel with a bathroom in the room. What a luxury!

He also rented us an Opal station wagon to experience the Autobahn as we traveled to Stuttgart. That experience gave us a true appreciation of the left lane, the passing lane. As we got the good old station wagon up to speed (basically as fast as that Opal was capable) we would approach slower vehicles and the maneuver to pass in the passing lane had to be completed quickly. The luxury missiles, aka BMW 7 series and Mercedes S – Class sedans would approach and pass with such ferocity they would nearly knock us off the road. I will never forget that feeling. I desperately want to be on the other side of it!

If You Could Have Any Superpower What Would It Be and Why?

I would choose to have the power to snap my fingers and instantly transport to anywhere in the world. Additionally, anyone physically touching me at the time of transport would come along. The transporting group could select the luggage they want to accompany the jump.

I would also require a transport coordinator with travel agent super powers to coordinate the logistics for the transport destination. Oh wait, I already have that in my wife, Stacy! She has travel planning super powers! Thanks Stacy! A new transport coordinator would have to be at least twice as powerful as Stacy.

With this power I could pack in as many experiences as possible into my life. After all, our lives are simply a collection of memories we choose to make.

Hometown:

I was born in St. Louis, MO, but we moved to Houston when I was two years old. My father was a builder, so we seemed to move with the different markets. We ended up moving to Peachtree City, GA when I was in third grade. I graduated from the University of Georgia, and liked the mountains too much to stick around Atlanta.

Number of Years in Real Estate:

I was originally licensed in 1996 when I was 18 years old, but was also lucky enough to have attained a 4-year degree in Real Estate from UGA.

Hobbies:

ANYTHING OUTDOORS! The reason I moved to Colorado in 2002 was to ski, snowboard, and climb. Skiing/Snowboarding is still my favorite hobby, I still try to get 15-20 days in each year. I also enjoy golf and taking my two boys, Lucas and Colton, up to the mountains on our UTV. My boys would rather be up in the mountains than on their IPad’s, so I feel like my wife and I are doing something right!

Describe Yourself In 5 Words:

Outgoing, Funny, Edgy, Compassionate, Fiercely Independent

Favorite Place to Grab a Drink:

There is a pre-prohibition style bar at the Hotel Jerome that my wife and I love! A fantastic way to start a night on the town in Aspen.

One Unusual Thing About You:

My eclectic music collection. I love everything from Old School Hip Hop to Country, Heavy Metal and Punk to Classical, Reggae, and Classic Rock. My favorite artist of all time is Lionel Richie, followed by Pink Floyd.

What Is One Item on Your Bucket List?

Hiking the Appalachian Trail! I would love to do this with my boys either before or after they graduate college.

What Is Your Proudest Accomplishment and Why?

I’m very proud of my two boys. They are truly incredible and every time I look at them I feel blessed that they call me Dad.

What Is the Most Adventurous Thing You’ve Ever Done?

I live for adventure, so I’m not quite sure. I used to freeclimb when I was younger, which is extremely unnerving now that I look back at it, but at the time it was just an adrenaline rush. My friends and I ski some pretty intense stuff each year, and 6 of us are going heli-skiing in March of this year. All my good friends have kiddos to take care of, so we are all starting to slow down.

If You Could Master Any Skill That You Don’t Currently Have, What Would It Be and Why?

I would love to master the Japanese language. My wife and I have been a few times and we took our kids this year. I have an absolute fascination for the people, the food, the culture, the tradition, the architecture – I could keep going.

If You Could Have Dinner with Anyone, Who Would It Be and Why?

I would love to have dinner with Charlie Rose. Charlie has interviewed the best of the best, so I would love to pick his brain to find out what life lessons he has learned from others.

What’s the Best Concert You’ve Ever Been To? What Made It So Special?

I was married at Red Rocks and have seen over 100 concerts, shows or festivals, so music is extremely important in my life. The best show I had the privilege to see was an intimate concert with around 100 of us and Travis Tritt. It was so special because I was sitting next to my dad, and unfortunately my mother had passed away a year prior. My mom and dad played a lot of Travis Tritt when I was a teenager, so this was a very special show for both of us.

If You Could Live in A Book, TV Show, Or Movie What Would It Be and Why?

I would love to live in any Clive Cussler book because Dirk Pitt is the man. He has the most amazing death defying adventures, but always remains calm, cool, and collected. He is an underwater James Bond!
