Best Rooftop Restaurants and Bars in Denver

Denver’s vibrant and eclectic food scene is one of the fastest-growing in the nation. One way to experience the expanse of bars, pubs, restaurants, and eateries is from high up. With sweeping views of the iconic skyline and breathtaking sunsets over the Rocky Mountains, the Mile High City boasts some of the country’s best rooftop restaurant decks. Some have a pool to cool you off in the summer, while others have fire pits for those chilly Colorado evenings. There’s one thing for sure, every one of the restaurants below offers something unique you won’t want to miss!

El Five

Created by Justin Cucci, one of Denver’s most prolific restaurateurs, El Five is located on the fifth story of a LoHi office building, providing the eatery with exceptional views of the surrounding area and stunning Denver skyline. But the eye candy doesn’t stop at the panorama: the rooftop decor is unmistakably hip and artistic, pulling inspiration from vintage Turkish posters and paintings, all with a modern twist.

“Creating dishes without a home country,” El Five’s assembly of the Tapas De Gibraltar is a melting pot of Mediterranean dishes. Spain, Italy, France, Greece, Israel, Morocco, Turkey, and Lebanon, this culinary experience is truly one of a kind. In tandem, the drinks are nothing short of gourmet. Inspired by Spanish gin and tonics, the cocktails are brilliantly infused with herbs and fruits, leaving a gold rush of flavors for the palate. If you’re looking for a full-blown sensory expedition complete with stunning views, then this is your place to go. Brought to you by the same mind that conceived Denver favorites, including Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox, Linger, and Root Down, El Five is a true treat for the senses.

Kisbee on the Roof – Jacquard Hotel

Nestled atop the tallest hotel in Cherry Creek, the experience at Kisbee on the Roof is quintessentially art decor Miami circa 1970. Picture the elevator doors opening. You immediately enter a slick, modern bar with a panoramic of downtown, backdropped by sprawling mountain peaks. Turn to your left, and the remaining two-thirds of the rooftop belongs to Jacquard Hotel’s private pool, encapsulated with trees and shrubs for privacy.

During the afternoon, you are so high up, all you can hear are the birds chirping. As the day grows older, the story is quite different. At about 5 pm, people start rolling in, the energy on the ascend. By nightfall, the vibe is alive.  It is loud and exciting, music is playing, the sound of ice crushing inside metal cocktail shakers. You are on top of the world! Although reservations are not required at Kisbee on the Roof, they are permitted, and we would recommend making one, as this hidden gem gets busy!

Jax Fish House Glendale

An energetic, non-traditional fish house bringing flavors of the American coast to the Rocky Mountains. Jax Fish House has five fabulous locations in Colorado, but the rooftop deck at the Glendale location is a sight for sore eyes. Enjoy any of their classically crafted cocktails paired with fresh seafood while relishing a dazzling sunset over the eastern slope.

There are obvious risks to shipping fresh oysters from the coasts to a land-locked state like Colorado. Jax Fish House found a way to mitigate any mystery surrounding their fresh oysters by working with Rappahannock River Oysters (RRO) in Virginia to develop the Emersum Oyster. This oyster is exclusive to the restaurant. And, for every Emersum oyster grown, a dozen wild oysters are seeded. It’s clear that this local seafood spot is committed to sustainability. Jax restaurants were the first in Colorado and Missouri to receive a certification by Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch, one of the leaders in globally sustainable seafood. So go ahead: enjoy your oysters, your wine, and your immaculate view of the Rocky Mountains, all while knowing that you’re also supporting a business dedicated to environmental preservation.

Elevated at Halcyon Cherry Creek

Elevated, a rooftop bar located atop the Halcyon Hotel in Cherry Creek is the definition of luxury. With gorgeous views of the mountains and the larger Cherry Creek area, the vibe errs on the side of the ultra-chic and sophisticated.  Elevated finds the prime intersection between classy and creative by offering plenty of fun cocktails, including Fruit Punch Pouches and Frosé.  The food and snacks provided include items like fish tacos, queso, and grass-fed cheeseburgers. If you happen to find yourself there on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, additional menu items are available, including grilled flatbread and artisanal hot dogs. So go ahead: treat yourself!

The second half of the rooftop is a gorgeous private pool with lounge chairs and umbrellas for hotel guests. Even if you live in Denver, we recommend booking a weekend stay at the Halcyon in the summer just to experience the sunset while sipping champagne in the pool.

Del Frisco’s Grille Cherry Creek

Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse is a chain of over 12 restaurants nationwide, providing consistently delicious American cuisine since 1981. The Cherry Creek location, Del Frisco’s Grille, is the second in Colorado and embodies the perfect blend of hip and classical. The restaurant is split into two rooms on the first floor, making for a unique design. An oversized bar, high-top tables, and leather booths occupy the south side, while a traditional dining area with wine bottle-covered walls decorate the north room.

The magic of Del Frisco’s Grille continues when you venture upstairs to the rooftop bar on the second floor. With spectacular panoramic views of Cherry Creek, this large outdoor area offers a full menu, fire pit tables, umbrellas for shade, and stays open until 11 pm during the summer. With one of the best happy hours in Cherry Creek, we recommend the Cheesesteak Egg Rolls and Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, paired with an Old Fashion or practically anything off their extensive wine list. Be sure to try the 16oz USDA Prime Ribeye with sweet potato fries and truffled Mac & Cheese for dinner. The original Colorado Del Frisco’s is located on Orchard Road in Greenwood Village. Both are excellent steakhouses where you’ll find nothing short of elegant dining and extraordinary American cuisine.

Ya Ya’s Euro Bistro

Ya Ya’s Euro Bistro epitomizes traditional Mediterranean cuisine in a sophisticated, upscale setting.  Located in Greenwood Village, smack in the middle of I-25 and the Denver Tech Center, Ya Ya’s is great for casual diners, business meetings, or private events. With a seasonal menu that changes daily, this family-owned and operated restaurant is committed to supporting local farmers throughout Colorado. In addition to Lunch and Dinner, Ya Ya’s also serves their infamous brunch on Sundays. We recommend the finger-licking Stuffed French Toast or hearty Eggs Benedict.

The outdoor area at Ya Ya’s is more of a patio than a rooftop, but with spectacular views overlooking Greenwood Village, we had to include it on our list. Most rooftop decks ooze happy hours and excitement. On the contrary, Ya Ya’s deck is unconventionally calm and serene, perched above a small pond overlooking Crescent Park. With jazz playing softly in the background, you can hear ducks waddle in the pond below, the wind softly ruffling Karl Foerster Grass, and water trickling from the fountain. This outdoor space is by far the quietest and most serene rooftop deck in the Denver metro. Sit, relax, and enjoy a glass of wine or cappuccino at Ya Ya’s on a peaceful summer evening.
