Jim Nussbaum was born and raised in Appleton, Wisconsin, receiving his B.A in English from St. John's University, Minnesota (with honors) and his Masters Degree in Business Administration/Marketing from the University of Wisconsin.
Jim began his selling career at the age of 17, selling vacuum cleaners door to door. He put himself through seven years of college by selling cookware, china, flatware and cutlery for The Vita Craft Corporation, Kansas City, Missouri. Starting as a salesman, Jim ended up as District Manager for Vita Craft. After receiving his Masters Degree, Jim joined the General Electric Company as a consultant, working with the company in Syracuse, New York; Philadelphia; Milwaukee; Chicago and Washington, D. C. He joined G. E.'s educational affiliate, the General Learning Corporation, where he functioned as a Corporate Planner and as Regional Marketing Director in charge of selling educational programs to such firms as IBM.
In June, 1970, Jim joined American Salesmasters, Inc., a firm specializing in selling sales training and motivational programs to salesmen throughout the country. He conducted hundreds of motivational sales meetings before sales groups in New York City and Colorado Springs, Colorado. While in the Springs, Jim's sales production earned him the designation of number one salesperson among 65 Salesmasters salespeople throughout the country. Periodically, Jim conducts real estate and motivational seminars and has been on the same platform with such notables as the late Earl Nightingale and Dr. Norman Vincent Peale.
Jim joined Van Schaack and Company as a real estate salesman in late 1970. He made the President's Club each succeeding year, and in five of his last seven years, was the top residential salesman for the company out of approximately 350 sales associates. His 1980 sales volume was approximately $10 million.
In March, 1981, Jim formed a new real estate company, The Kentwood Company, along with four other ex-Van Schaack sales people. In 1988, The Kentwood Company sold 50% of its stock to Mr. Bill Moore, President of Moore & Company. The new company, known as The Kentwood Moore Company, combined the strengths of two extremely successful firms to meet the needs of the changing real estate market in the 1990's.
Jim's sales volume has been consistently high, with $16.7 million in 1984, when he was recognized as the number one residential sales person in the State of Colorado. His closed sales in 1985 were over $13 million, and in 1986 he sold over $17 million and was recognized once again as the top residential sales person in Colorado.
In his 30+ year residential sales career, Jim has participated in over 2450 closings with a sales volume in excess of $775 million. His designations include GRI, CRS, SRES, CIPS and CDPE. He has received several real estate awards from the Denver Sales and Marketing Executives Club and has been listed in Who's Who in America. He resides in Greenwood Village, Colorado, with his wife, Mary Jean.
